You know the one reason I hate doing bullet point update posts? It steals the thunder from the one among them that deserves it 😀
But, this time, there have been more than one contesting for the ‘thunder’ and hence the post in points :
Bigger Home: The 1 bedroom condo we lived in could not possibly take any more stuff for even a tiny baby nor could it comfortably accommodate parents coming down to stay with us. So, the search for a 2 bedroom house started way back in September. Given our budget (H is a BIG KANJOOS when it comes to $$ going for rent), and our long list of criteria, we were slowly losing hope on finding a house of our dreams. One evening, things just fell into place like magic and we found one! The cozy living room with a fireplace and the pretty little private garden area were irresistible. It did not satisfy all our criteria nor did it fit within our budget, but we both okayed the house and signed the lease..all within a few hours! Packing, moving and all those tedious tasks happened.
What followed next was one long mega serial sort of undertaking by a hormonal pregnant lady. Not to mention, her chronic nesting instincts 😛 I did everything short of punching H’s face when things were not set exactly in the position I wanted them. Please be considerate and realize that H’s idea of unpacking boxes is to randomly dump the contents in no specific order or intention..anywhere within arm’s reach. Which means socks can get into the book shelf and the tool box can sit inside the bedding drawer. *Double Sigh!* So, finally the saga is over and the house looks like a neat home. A hand-down crib for the baby is in place too! 😀
The Hawaii Holiday: Have you heard of the term ‘Babymoon’? You know, something like the ‘Honeymoon’, but for couples who go out on a vacay before the arrival of their first baby. No? Me too! Got to know of the term through some ‘well informed’ friends and acquaintances. So, we just called the pre-planned trip to the Hawaiian Islands, our ‘Babymoon’ 😀
To summarize, I could just say – Fantastic tropical whether, awesome beaches, scenic hikes, beautiful cruises and one adventurous chopper ride above the breathtaking landscapes of Jurassic park! ( yes, the part I of the movie was shot in the island we visited and we hovered above the exact same waterfall in the dense forests). Pics posted below do not actually do justice to the real thing:
Most memorable part, if you ask me, is that day when we hiked up near one gorgeous green mountain called ‘Iao Needle’. At the top most viewing point, as me and H silently stood holding each other and letting ourselves drown in that mesmerizing beauty of mother nature, we noticed three old ladies observing us. A quick smile and a ‘hi’ later, we got talking. All the three ladies must have been past 50 by age and wore colorful long dresses with crafty stone necklaces. All three had perfectly white silvery hair and the same loving look in their eyes. And, all they spoke was my big tummy! They touched it and blessed it, gave me a dozen tips to have a safe and happy delivery. I was humbled and amused at those wonderful words coming from complete strangers. When I asked them who they were, one of them smiled and said “Just call us your Midwife Angels”. I thanked and left ..without daring to turn back. What if they were truly from the heavens and had disappeared! H says they were tourists just being nice. I still think of them as Fairy Godmothers who came to bless my baby 😀
Surprise Surprise!: We have been looking to buy a washer dryer for the new place and last weekend H told me about this hot deal he got to know through a friend. The appliance was selling brand new and at a great price. We got ready to go and see. I got into an old top and trousers while H dressed up elaborately in his new sweater, crisp pants and nice shoes. I kept teasing him for acting silly, being overdressed for a mere washer dryer. Well, who knew? We arrived at the place making small talk. When the big door opened up to 50+ people shouting “SURPRISE!!”, I realized I had stepped into my own Baby Shower Party! I could put a hundred exclamation marks here to tell how shocked and thrilled I was! 😀 Almost every face of the person I call ‘friend’ here was there with their family and kids. H was a part of the whole scheme initiated and organized by his sister ( yes, my SIL rocks!). Mouth wide open in disbelief and tears of joy rolling down.. THE BEST MOMENT EVER! 🙂
There was some good food and nice baby theme decor, lots of chatting and laughing, cake cutting and cheer. All the while I kept thanking my stars for such good people around me..the people I call my own.
Holidays and a Brand New Year : All you awesome people out there, have a wonderful holiday season. Make Merry, Laugh a Lot and Feel Great!
The year 2009 might have been all good or mostly bad or a mix of both. Leave the lousy part behind, just take the precious nice ones along and move forward into a Bright New Year.
Happy 2010 you all ! * Muah *
